Upgrading to SIP 3.2

This section describes how to upgrade an existing SIP 3.1 installation to SIP 3.2.

Important:
To upgrade your SIP 2.2 installation to SIP 3.2 you must upgrade to SIP 3.0  then upgrade to SIP 3.1 and then to SIP 3.2. 

To upgrade SIP 3.1.0 rev.100421 version or later to SIP 3.2.0 rev.101202 release:

  1. Back up the site.
  2. Open the Update Installation Wizard by entering the following URL in your browser: http://<hostname>/sitecore/admin/UpdateInstallationWizard.html.
    See the Update Installation Wizard Guide for more information about how to use the wizard.
  3. Install the Sitecore Intranet Portal 3.2.0 rev. 101202 update package using the wizard:
    1. Upload the update package using the wizard.
    2. Analyze the package.
    3. Install the package.
  4. Update the following configuration files. You can find the exact strings to update on the Configuration Files page.
    • /Web.config
    • /App_Config/FieldTypes.config
    • /sitecore_files/Web.config
    • /App_Config/Include/Sitecore.WebDAV.config
    • /App_Config/Include/SIP_RSS.config 
  5. Upgrade the database schema. Execute the SitecoreCMS630.sql script on each of your Sitecore databases (core, master, web and any custom Sitecore databases, but excluding the Analytics database and any Sitecore module databases you have installed). This will update the database schema to Sitecore CMS 6.3.0.
  6. Clear your browser's cache. In Internet Explorer this is done via the menu Tools » Internet Options » Browsing History » Delete » Delete Temporary Internet Files.
  7. Rebuild the search indexes and the link database in the master and the core databases. You can do this using the wizards available via the Sitecore desktop link Sitecore » Control Panel » Database.
  8. Important! If you have created custom standard values for the templates from the list below then make sure that these standard values items contain correct field values (as they could be overwritten during upgrade):
    • /sitecore/templates/Intranet/Intranet.WebPartFrameworkSettings
  9. Important! Check security settings on the /sitecore/content/Intranet/Site Config/Target Groups item. If you use default security settings on this item then the read access right will be granted to the Everyone role. Consider if it's suitable for your solution.
  10. Important! Check that in the /sitecore/system/IntranetSettings/MainSettings/NormanSettings item, the SubMenuIncludeTemplates field contains all the templates from the includetemplates parameter of the /xsl/Intranet.SubMenu.xslt file. Items based on those templates will be displayed in side menu.
