Sitecore Commerce 8.0 powered by Commerce Server and Commerce Server
11.2 is
subject to the limitations and restrictions detailed in the following sections.
Sitecore recommends that you install the Commerce Server (CS), Core, Master, and Web databases
on a single database server or multiple database servers that are located on the same network as
all of the Web servers. If you are using Sitecore DMS, we recommend that you install the
Analytics database on a dedicated database server. For more information about scaling Sitecore
CMS and DMS, see the Sitecore CMS Scaling Guide.
The following illustration show a typical database environment:
Limitations
Sitecore Commerce 8.0 powered by Commerce Server and Commerce Server
11.2 limitations
are as follows:
- Because of some limitations in what kind of information is passed down to a data provider,
move, copy duplicate, and sort are not supported in the Sheer UI.
- Changing a fields type through the Sitecore Sheer UI is not
supported. If you change a field type through the SitecoreSheer UI it will
be overwritten during an IISReset or Update Data
Templates command execution.
- It is not possible to create a new relationship (like a cross-sell or upsell) through the
Sheer UI, relationships will need to be created through the new business tools or catalog
manager. A developer can create a new relationships though the Relationship Lists field on a
product or category item.
- Use the new Merchandising Manager
for catalog changes and avoid using Catalog Manager. When a business user makes a change to a
catalog item using the legacy desktop Catalog Manager, that change will not be reflected in
Merchandising Manager until the affected catalogs are re-indexed within Sitecore. Changes made
with the Catalog Manager require you to manually run the re index to update the search index
used by the tools. Changes made with the Merchandising Manager are automatically
updated by the system.
- Sitecore Commerce 8.0 powered by Commerce Server and Commerce Server
11.2 requires an
SQL Server database, Oracle products are not supported.
- An artifact of the Sitecore SPEAK UX Framework causes menus to flicker during page
loading.
Restrictions
Sitecore Commerce 8.0 powered by Commerce Server and Commerce Server
11.2 restrictions
are as follows:
- Access to Commerce Server data and operations is ”secure by default”. Unless a Business User
is explicitly granted access to data or an operation, they will not be allowed to manipulate
that data or perform the operation. In general, security administrators should assign access
rights by a role, and not at the individual user level. While user level authorization is
supported, it can make management of access rights more difficult.
