Depending on client configuration, symptoms may include:

Internet Explorer raises JavaScript errors on various operations, such as opening a layout in Layout Studio:
Double-click the JavaScript error icon in lower right corner of Internet Explorer:
Select Show Details :
Other error messages may simply indicate the browser cache needs to be cleared and the page refreshed or a reboot after an update has not been applied, Sitecore must be added to IE’s Trusted Sites and popup windows allowed (see http://sdn.sitecore.net/Developer/Resolving%20JavaScript%20Issues.html). To clear the browser cache:

Launch Internet Explorer

Select Tools > Internet Options
-
Press Delete Files on the General tab
-
Select the Delete all offline content checkbox
- Press OK
1. Confirming a Correction
To confirm the browser is configured properly after changing any configuration parameter such as upgrading Sitecore, installing or removing KB918899 or KB923996 or updating the registry, attempt the operation which elicited the original symptom, for instance:
- Sitecore 5.1 or 5.2:
- Open a layout in Layout Studio; if the layout appears and the browser does not crash or throw permission denied it is configured properly
- Open a layout in Layout Studio; if the layout appears and the browser does not crash or throw permission denied it is configured properly
- Sitecore 5.3:
- In Template Manager, right-click on a master for a template, then click on anything other than that master; if the browser does not crash or throw permission denied it is configured properly
