Difference between event name="item:added" and event name="item:created"

Q:

Could you please describe the difference between <event name="item:added"> and <event name="item:created">

A:

The 'item:added' event is raised when an item is added from a master or a template (ie. item.AddFromTemplate(...) or item.AddFromMaster(...)).

The 'item:created' is a lower level event and is raised whenever an item is created (no matter the reason). Even if you use the low level methods of DataEngine to create an item, this event is raised.

When adding from a template or master, you will actually get both events. First 'item:created' followed by 'item:added'.
