The sections below describe how to configure the SQL Server for working with Sitecore.

Note: it is strongly recommended to use SQL Server authentication for Sitecore 5.3 SQL connections. This is how configuration files are tuned by default.

This section shows how to create a database account for Sitecore databases under SQL Server 2005 with minimum required permissions.

This document describes installation of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition for use with Sitecore 5.3.

Complete the following steps if SQL Server 2000 or 2005 will be used:

SQLite is an open source database providing the most simplified Sitecore configuration.

This section applies to DBO's who want to tighten security on the MS SQL server.

Sitecore provides a tool to be executed on the database server which simplifies restoration of the SQL Server backups (MS SQL Database Restore Tool).
