Often some form of quality ensurance is needed on the content. To achieve this the built-in workflow may help, where the user (such as the Editor) can submit newly edited content to have it reviewed and approved by a supervisor (such as the Webmaster).

Content will enter the workflow for approval when the user submits it to the workflow, thereby signalling the edit is finished. Approving content is a way of ensuring a high quality of the content and it is a natural part of the workflow system in Sitecore. It is also a step towards the final content to be published on the website. 

Notice: The Approval is not a Publish in itself as the publishing takes place in a separate step. This also means that the content will not be public on the website even though it has been approved. It must be published before it is public.

The Workbox is the tool for montoring and approving content.

The Workbox makes it easy to gain an overview and follow the items entered in the workflow.
