All items, files and security accounts are stored in packages in groups called sources. Sources containing items and files can be either dynamic (based on specified search criteria) or static.  Security account sources can be added statically only.

Use static sources when you want to include all the items or fields under a specific node or folder in the content tree or you only want to include a few specific items or files.  Use dynamic sources when the items or files to cannot be easily selected, such as when you want to include everything created after a certain date. 

You can add Sitecore items, files and security accounts to packages.

Start adding dynamic item and dynamic file sources by clicking Items Dynamically and Files Dynamically buttons.

Start adding static item and static file sources by clicking Items Statically and Files Statically buttons.

Start adding security account item by clicking Security Accounts buttons.

When the package is generated, all entries (items, files and security accounts) are sorted in the following order
