The Sitecore Customer Engagement Platform (CEP) is the combination of Sitecore CMS and DMS, and is an application to Sitecore CMS versions 6.5 and later. Please follow the instructions and guidelines below to install the Sitecore CMS and DMS products.
Sitecore CMS is only supported on machines that meet the requirements described in the Requirements chapter of the Sitecore CMS 6 Installation Guide. For detailed information about the requirements for Sitecore CMS and the installation procedure, see the Sitecore CMS Installation Guide.

Other Versions of Sitecore CMS
Important Notes for all Sitecore CMS 6 Versions
- Sitecore CMS 5.3 databases are NOT compatible with Sitecore CMS 6.
- Code written for the Sitecore CMS 5.3 API must be recompiled to run with Sitecore CMS 6.
- Configure your browser and always clear the browser cache when moving between Sitecore versions.
- If you want to uninstall a Sitecore CMS installation that has been installed with the setup executable, you must use the Windows Add/Remove programs option in Windows Control Panel. If you try to remove the solution manually, the registry may become corrupted.
