Your business continuity planning must include a recovery point objective (RPO) and a recovery time objective (RTO) to ensure you have an effective data recovery plan in the event of an outage.
The RPO is the maximum allowable period during which data can be lost during an outage, before the recovery process begins. Depending on which disaster recovery plan you choose, this break in continuity can vary from 5 seconds to 3 hours.
